MISSED LESSON POLICY

Yodelay Music Lesson Attendance and Enrolment Policy. Updated 17/08/2026.

At Yodelay Music, each student’s regular lesson time is reserved exclusively for them. This policy helps us provide reliable tuition, maintain stable teaching schedules and support consistent income for our teachers.

Ongoing Enrolment

Enrolment with Yodelay Music is ongoing and automatically continues from one school term to the next. Families do not need to re-enrol each term.

If a student will not be continuing in the following term, Yodelay Music must be notified in writing before the end of the current school term.

Lesson days, times and teachers will generally continue into the following term. Occasionally, timetable or staffing changes may be necessary. If a significant change is required, Yodelay Music will contact the family to discuss the available options.

A student who withdraws and later returns is not guaranteed their previous teacher or lesson time.

Commitment for the Term

Enrolment reserves a regular lesson time for the full school term. Once a term has commenced, families are responsible for all lessons scheduled for that term.

This remains the case if a student:

goes on holiday;
takes an extended break;
stops attending;
becomes unavailable for part or all of the term; or
intends to return in a future term.

Teachers’ timetables are established before each term begins, and a lesson time vacated during the term can be difficult to offer to another student.

Advance notice of an absence does not automatically cancel the remaining fees or create an entitlement to a refund or credit.

Yodelay Music may adjust this requirement in exceptional circumstances, such as a significant medical or family emergency. Any adjustment is at the discretion of Yodelay Music and must be confirmed in writing.

Student Absences and Video Lessons

If a student cannot attend a scheduled lesson for any reason, the teacher will prepare and send a personalised video lesson or learning activity.

This includes absences caused by:

illness;
holidays or family commitments;
transport difficulties;
forgotten lessons;
school excursions or camps;
sporting events, assemblies or classroom activities; and
any other situation in which the student is unavailable.

The video may include demonstrations, practice instructions, exercises, feedback, repertoire guidance or other material relevant to the student’s learning.

Once the video lesson or learning activity has been supplied, the scheduled lesson is considered delivered and remains payable. An additional catch-up lesson, refund or credit will not be provided.

If a student misses multiple lessons, including during an extended absence, a video lesson or learning activity will be supplied for each scheduled lesson while the enrolment remains active.

Families are encouraged to provide as much notice as possible so the teacher can prepare useful and relevant material for the student.

Primary School Programs

Families enrolled in a primary school program are charged for every lesson scheduled during the school term.

The number of lessons may vary according to the school calendar, public holidays, pupil-free days, known school closures and the student’s regular lesson day.

If the teacher is present and ready to teach but the student cannot attend or cannot be released from class, the teacher will provide a video lesson or learning activity. Once this has been supplied, the lesson is considered delivered and remains payable.

This includes lessons missed because of excursions, camps, sporting events, assemblies, classroom activities or other school commitments.

Lessons that are not scheduled because of a public holiday, pupil-free day or known school closure will not be charged unless an alternative lesson arrangement is provided.

Teacher Cancellations

If a Yodelay Music teacher cannot deliver a scheduled lesson because of illness or unforeseen circumstances, Yodelay Music will arrange a catch-up lesson.

A catch-up lesson may:

be held on a different day or at a different time;
be delivered online;
be added to another teaching week; or
be delivered by a suitably qualified replacement teacher.

Once a catch-up time has been agreed upon, it becomes the student’s scheduled lesson. If the student does not attend the agreed catch-up, the student-absence conditions in this policy will apply.

If Yodelay Music cannot provide a replacement teacher or catch-up lesson, the family will receive a credit or refund for the cancelled lesson.

Fees and Withdrawal During a Term

Stopping attendance does not automatically cancel an enrolment or the associated fees.

If a family withdraws after the term has commenced, the remaining scheduled fees for that term will continue to be payable. Video lessons or learning activities will continue to be supplied for the remaining scheduled lessons unless another arrangement is agreed to by Yodelay Music in writing.

If notice of withdrawal is received after a new term has commenced, it will be treated as a withdrawal during that term, and the family will remain responsible for that term’s scheduled fees.

Communication

Absences and withdrawals must be communicated directly to Yodelay Music. Informing an individual teacher or school staff member may not be sufficient to change or cancel an enrolment.

All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to Yodelay Music.

By enrolling with Yodelay Music, families acknowledge and accept this Lesson Attendance and Enrolment Policy.

If a Yodelay Music teacher cancels a lesson, Yodelay Music will provide a replacement teacher or catch-up lesson. If neither can be provided, a credit or refund will be issued.
